There is only one leather tanner in Belize and she learned the craft from her father who owned the famous “Western Leather”.   The leather is tanned “the old fashioned way” with using only tree bark and water. They are located on the mainland of Belize near Belmopan, the capital of Belize.  They started out making saddles, belts and other equestrian needs and have recently expanded to fashion design.

These tote bags are hand made of sturdy canvas and are hand stitched and embroidered.  They have a tie so they can be rolled and secured making them super convenient to carry around.  They are the perfect size for groceries, but were patterned and designed after a classic “book bag”.

You’ll see the “Peace Belize Podiatry” was a custom design for an annual visitor to San Pedro.  This great couple buys holiday gifts from Belize for their team at their office every year.  This year, we were able to custom order these totes for them to enjoy even though they can’t come back just yet.
